Dr Michael Khairallah
Chairperson of the Victorian Lebanese Community Council
DR Michael Kheirallah worked as a Regional Manager for the Northwest Region at the Consumer Affairs Victoria for over 17 years. He is an ongoing activist within multicultural affairs for over 18 years, particularly within Victoria’s Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities (CALD).
His PhD thesis specifically identifies barriers that non-English speaking communities face when it comes to employment opportunities. This research has continued to fuel his passion to help the community, being responsible for various initiatives to empower and strengthen the capacity the CALD communities across the State. In 2014, Michael received the Victorian Multicultural Awards for Excellence and the Justice Award for serving the Refugee Community in Victoria.
January 2023, Michael joined the Salvation Army, Melbourne Counselling Service team as a Program Manager.
In 2007, Michael with other members of the Lebanese Community established the Victorian Lebanese Community Council (VLCC) in Victoria where since then has advocated for the Lebanese community by providing cross cultural training to different government departments, providing advocacy on behalf of the community, promoting, and celebrating the achievements of the community.
